I Did a Thing

So, as you've probably noticed, I've kinda procrastinated at updating this blog. I could try to make an excuse, but there's no point. But, I have started a new thing. That thing being a youtube channel under my username tashafromtumblr. I've uploaded a few videos there, including the newest one where I try to get banned from Club Penguin before the website shuts down forever. I worked super hard on it and it would be fabulous if you'd check it out. Bacon Cheeseburger Bombs

Image
Ingredients: - 1/2 pound of lean ground beef - 3 cans of biscuit dough - 2/3 block of cheese (I used medium cheddar cheese, but use whatever you want) - Bacon (I used real bacon bits to save time, but you'd need 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound of bacon if you want to fry your own) Directions: 1) Cook your beef in a pan. Drain the meat juice from the pan after it's cooked (if you don't, the biscuits will be soggy). 2) Cook your bacon in a pan. Once it's cooked, use a pair of tongs to transfer the bacon to a paper towel - lined plate. Pat the bacon with another piece of paper towel to remove excess grease. Transfer it to a cutting board and chop it to an ideal size. (If you used bacon bits, you can skip this step) 3) Cube your cheese. 4) Open the can of biscuit dough. Separate the biscuits. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough 1/2 inch thick. 5) Spoon the cooked beef onto the rolled out biscuit doughs. Stick a cube of cheese in the middle of your beef pile. Sprin...

Flying for Food

Through the sky I fly, looking for something. I don’t know what, only that I’ll know when I find it. I can’t see from this high though. When I descend, I immediately find what I’m looking for. The grass is and as I land to catch my prize. Taking flight once more, I turn back towards home. I love this moment, completely suspended in the air, nothing keeping you alight except for your own two wings. It’s wonderfully freeing. It’s times like this that make me wonder about the humans. How do they do it, always stuck on the ground? It would drive me mad. And the contraptions they live in are so strange! Nothing compared to my cozy nest, perched high upon the branches of a tall fir tree. And their bodies are so odd. Whereas I have beautiful red plumage, those humans don’t even have feathers. How I pity them. Oh well. I have more important things to worry about, like bringing this nice juicy worm home to my chicks.

A Grassy Perspective

Image
I was out adventuring in my backyard the other day when I found this perfect little mushroom hiding in the grass. Instead of squishing it, like mother has always told us to do when we find wild mushrooms, I pulled out my camera. I took a few photos before getting up close and personal to capture this grassy shot.

We are Lumos

One of the things I'm greatest at is reading. I absolutely LOVE books. In grade 7, I read 75 full books simply during school hours throughout the year. I also have a mile long wishlist on Chapters/Indigo. And my favourite series is (a classic) Harry Potter. Aaah, Potter. My first true series. I'd curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and one of those books and be there all day. In fact, I first read the series (all 7 books) in grade 5 over the span of about 2 1/2 weeks. I have a snitch pocket watch and an interactive (reed) wand. My house is Gryffindor, my Ilvermorny house is Thunderbird, and my patronus is an otter. And of course, the queen is JK Rowling. She's the best. Pottermore is one of my favourite sites and I've read everything she's written there. But what did Miss Rowling do with the millions of dollars in book sales? She started Lumos. Lumos is the nonprofit organization created and run by JK Rowling to help children stuck in homes and institutions ...

Book Review: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Image
I'm a super-intense booknerd and I'm always hunting for a great new read. I came across Shatter Me on Indigo's website and was naturally intrigued. I mean, come on! Look at that amazing cover art! Shatter Me is set in a post apocalyptic America. Food doesn't grow. Birds don't fly. Air is barely breathable. Weather is an unpredictable weapon. And The Reestablishment controls everything. The main protagonist is 17 year old named Juliette, a girl who's been locked up and bounced around from prison to hospital to asylum for most of her life. A girl who's legally insane. A girl who's feared and hated. A girl capable of killing with her touch. But Juliette longs for freedom. So when The Reestablishment recruits her to use as their weapon, she has her own plans. She won't be anyone's weapon. Okay, so the book starts off somewhat lacking and slow. She's afraid of absolutely everything . Things begin to pick up when she's transferred...

Trapped

I run as fast as my legs will take me. They are chasing me, and though I don’t know why, I know I must escape. I see the dark forest up ahead and I know it’s my only chance. It’s almost pitch black and I can barely see, but still I run. My lungs burn and my legs ache, but I keep going. The brambles catch the skirt of my violet dress and threaten to trip me. I must not trip, I must not fall, I must not stop. The tree branches reach out like long fingers and grab my coppery hair, but still I do not stop. I cannot see now, and run blind through the forest.             A tree root snakes out underfoot and I trip. They will catch me now. I’m sure of it. But ahead I see a glimmer of light. It is not much, but I can see by it. Quickly, I stand and run, ignoring the newfound pain in my ankle. Now it is I who chase that bit of light. It will save me. It must save me...
